I have always wanted to be a superhero. This is probably true of most boys and girls, but I'm still working for it. I try to work out five times a week, and lately I've been trying to eat a clean diet and drink at least one beverage a day containing spinach and kale and other forms of liquid green goo. It is my theory that eventually Hollywood will see my great efforts and cast me as a superhero. Calling all CD's and superhero directors (especially Joss Whedon), are you listening?
So here's the thing, I hurt myself today in Zumba class. Usually I'm pretty good at Zumba especially since I danced all the way through college and used to teach aerobics. The thing is, it's been a while since college... I twisted my knee and I realized I could do two things, I could dance my way through it and ignore the pain, or I could hobble my way off and try my best to smile and wave good bye to the teacher and class in between songs as discreetly as I could since I was in the front row. I choose the latter. Normally I would've pushed through it, but why would it really matter if I impressed the ladies of the upper east side? I'd rather not cripple myself to the point I can't audition. Look at me, I'm growing! :)
I limped my way home, bought a bottle of wine and some chocolate and dumped myself into a bubble bath, for two hours. My clean diet is on hold now today. And my knee is feeling much better! Actually everything is feeling better as I'm kinda buzzed now writing this. Even real superheroes need to regroup sometimes right? So today I'm resting (and drinking and eating chocolate), and tomorrow no gym or walk or anything. Monday, I'm back at it. :)
Acting Update:
Last month I had the honor of working with producers John Gallagher, Sibyl Santiago and Deborah Twiss as well as Italian director Gabriele Altobelli on a new film called Uncomfortable Silence. I look forward to sharing it with you! :)
